Award-winning singer-songwriter Avril Lavigne is over the moon as she earns a star on the historic Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The pop-punk princess shares this milestone through her Instagram page exclaiming, “Look Mom. I got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. ⭐️” Also present in the event were her fiancé Derek Smith, known professionally as rapper Mod Sun, American rapper Machine Gun Kelly, and singer John Feldmann.
Lavigne opened her speech by showing a photograph of her at 16 when she first arrived in Hollywood posing next to a star on the famous landmark. She received the award dressed in a hoodie which says, “Skateboarding is not a crime,” the same one she wore in the said photograph.
“Today, I love making music more than ever. I feel so inspired,” she said, as she expressed her gratitude to her family and fiancé.
The 37-year old singer hopes her star will encourage the next small-town 16-year-old who “comes to Hollywood one day full of hopes and dreams.”
“Live your passion. Express yourself,” she carries on. “Be real. Work hard. Keep your head up. Believe in yourself.”
“Thank you so much for this honor,” she stated as she ended her speech.
The career benchmark came as Lavigne celebrated the 20th anniversary of her debut album Let Go, which propelled her career with the single Complicated and memorable hits Sk8er Boi and I’m With You. Meanwhile, she released her seventh studio album “Love Sux” last February.
