Awit Awards to investigate alleged text voting scam

After the awarding ceremonies on October 10, the hashtag #AwitAwardsScam circulated on Twitter made by Darren Espanto fans who are complaining about the results of the People’s Voice Awards on the Awit Awards 2019.
The annual awards which is yearly organized by the Philippine Association of the Record Industry (PARI) was coated with controversy because of the claims of Espanto’s fans that votes in the Favorite Male Artist were garnered by Espanto himself, far from the resutls where Juan Karlos won the title.
Irate fans shared screenshots of voting results showing Espanto at the top. They even called out the attention of the Department of Trade and Industry regarding the alleged fraud.

“We have been made aware of certain allegations re the Awit People’s Voice Awards which happened on letsvote.ph and ended last October 8, 2019. The results were announced during Awit Awards on October 10, 2019, based on the reports of the provider, ZED Philippines. We are currently looking into these allegations and are awaiting the explanation of Zed Philippines regarding this matter,” said Awit Awards October 11.
