Backstreet Boys have finally explained the meaning of their 90’s hit song ‘I Want It That Way’ according to Billboard.
It’s been nineteen years since the group have released their song but most of those who’ve listened and sing along to the song does not know what is ‘that way’ the boys are referring to.
Among those who are confused is John Legend’s wife, Chrissy Teigen who tweeted:
“I never wanna hear you say, ‘I want it that way’ cause i want it that way”. He doesn’t wanna hear it because he is the one that wants it that way? He wants to be the one to say it? Also what is “it”?

Teigen then followed the tweet with:
It seems they both want it the same way but are fighting over who gets to say they want it that way https://t.co/kd94CBVjlP

Hours later, Backstreet Boys responded to Teigen’s tweet with:
Don’t wanna hear you say that you want heartaches and mistakes… or to be 2 worlds apart. We don’t want you to want “it” that way – that’s the way we want it… for you to not want it that way. pic.twitter.com/z7YWFhH8t1

In 2016, the boys have already admitted in the past the words don’t actually make any sense.
