American singer Barry Manilow has tested positive for COVID-19 and has skipped the opening of his musical entitled, ‘Harmony: A New Musical,’ April 14, Thursday.
Manilow took Instagram to announce that he will not be able to attend the opening night of the musical. “I am heartbroken to say that I have just tested positive for COVID-19 and won’t be able to attend tonight’s opening night performance of my new musical ‘Harmony,’” he wrote.
“This just might be the cruelest thing that has ever happened to me: 25 years waiting for this show to premiere in New York and I can’t attend,” the singer added.
“Even in the face of this pandemic, we New Yorkers remain the toughest, staunchest people on the planet — so, put on a mask and go see a show!” Manilow stated while urging to still watch the show while following minimum health standards.
‘Harmony’ is written by Barry Manilow and his collaborator Bruce Sussman that tackles the story of the Comedian Harmonists. The musical will run until May 8 in Manhattan, New York in the United States.
