Chart-topping Filipino band Ben&Ben released a new collaboration on August 12 with “To the Bone” Indonesian singer-songwriter Pamungkas for an English Translation of “Paninidigan Kita,” called “Stand by You.” Both musicians also recently released a live rendition of the song with a more profound, elaborate arrangement, and rearranged verses.
“Paninindigan Kita” was released in May and is about reassurance to a partner reluctant to make the relationship move forward.
Both Filipino and Indonesian acts virtually met a month ago. They also had the chance to strategize how to give the song a collaborative approach before the live performance. Miguel Benjamin Guico of Ben&Ben said, “Collaboration is a new term for friendship. It is not going to work if you do not hang out and connect as people. And when we hung out, we realized we had more in common with them, and Pamungkas is really laid back and cool as a person.”
More so, Ben&Ben lauded Pamungkas for his ability to change the feel of the song while bringing his style to the arrangement. As opposed to being a simple rendition of the song, this made the collaboration version stand out in a way that shows the fusion of both styles into one performance.
Pamungkas held a sold-out show at 123 Block in Mandaluyong City on August 6 as part of the Southeast Asian leg of his tour to promote his fourth album “Birdy.” This marks his first-ever performance in the Philippines. Ben&Ben is also set for the North American leg of their concert and a send-off live show this coming September 3 at the CCP Open Grounds.
