The British Royal Mail has announced that the agency will issue 13 dedicated stamps for the rock band Queen, to be available starting July 8.
The stamps to be issued are intended for the 50th anniversary of the formation the band in 1970. Stamps will showcase the most popular album covers and images from the most extravagant performances.
Iconic album covers included are âQueen II,â âA Night at the Opera,â âGreatest Hits,â âThe Works,â and âInnuendo.â There are individual stamps of each member such as Freddie Mercury at Wembley Stadium during the bandâs 1986 âMagic Tourâ, and bassist John Deacon at Hammersmith Odeon during 1975âs âA Night At The Operaâ tour.
âItâs hard to put into words what I feel when looking at these beautiful stamps. Since we four precocious boys started out on our quest 50 years ago, our lives have been devoted to making our impossible dream come true,” guitarist Brian May said.
Queen will be the third group to have dedicated stamp issue after The Beatles in 2007 and Pink Floyd in 2016.
