BTS’ Jin teases forthcoming single ‘The Astronaut’ before military service

    Famed hit K-pop boy band BTS’ Jin is set to debut his first official solo single on October 28 – titled “The Astronaut.” The upcoming single is a collaboration between the said group member and UK-based pop-punk band Coldplay.

    Jin, being the seven-piece group’s eldest member, will be the first to render his required military service in 2022. Additionally, it is reported that he will withdraw his appeal to postpone military service at the end of the month and instead enlist in the military following relevant Military Manpower Administration guidelines.

    Furthermore, the band members have spoken of “wrapping up its first chapter” as they approach their ninth anniversary. Hence, earlier in June – BTS announced their break from the group to focus on solo careers, but they recently regrouped for a concert in Busan to support South Korea’s bid to host the World Expo 2030.

    Since it’s a song made with so much love toward the fans, we hope ‘The Astronaut’ can be a gift to all of you,” management BIGHIT MUSIC quoted. They also added, “Jin put his love for the Army in making ‘The Astronaut,’ and we anticipate it to be like a gift to the Army.” (ARMY is the BTS’ fanbase)

    The trailer opens with an astronaut stepping off a spaceship and drifting calmly across the void of outer space as they pass by the moon. The spaceman encounters danger as massive space boulders fly in his direction. Then, the astronaut ultimately finds a mysterious, vividly purple source of light after weaving through the confusion.

    “The Astronaut,” alongside its music video is set for release on October 28 at 1 PM.

    Known as having a “silver voice, Jin of BTS (born Kim Seok-jin) had his K-pop debut in June 2013. Although “The Astronaut” will be his official solo debut, the 29-year-old already has a decade-long solo music career.
