Casting director reveals stars participating the Search for Madonna

  The biggest role for the biopic of one of the biggest icons in pop music, Madonna, is now available for some actresses, casting director revealed, March 3, Thursday.

  Running the search for the role is casting director Carmen Cuba. She revealed the list of those who have auditioned over the course of months.

  Among the actresses are Julia Garner, Florence Pugh, ‘Euphoria’ star Alexa Demie, indie regular Odessa Young, and newcomer Emma Laird. Musical artists such as Bebe Rexha and Sky Ferreira have also been part of the search.

  “You have to be able to do everything,” one representative described the grueling process of the actual auditions that involve choreography session with Madonna’s choreographer, and choreography, singing, and reading session with Madonna herself.

  In 2020, it was announced that the singer would be directing a biopic for Universal and co-writing the screenplay with Oscar-winner Diablo Cody. “The reason I’m doing it is because a bunch of people have tried to write movies about me, but they’re always men,” Madonna said in October.
