The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) is set to launch a research project to assess the music industry in the Philippines, September 7, Tuesday.
The upcoming study is entitled as ‘Musika Pilipinas: Research and Mapping Towards Understanding, Scoping, and Defining the Philippine Music Industry.’ It will be led by Dr. Ma. Alexandra Chua of the National Research Council of the Philippines.
The program aims to get a comprehensive picture of music as well as its creative and production dynamics. The science department also bids to support the growth of the industry. The agency also called for subscribing to local music and artists to help up the economy.
“It intends to identify prospects and challenges for an effective reference on cultural policy to be utilized in the process of building a more vibrant and dynamic Philippine music industry,” DOST said in a statement.
