ENGENEs seek legal counsel over ‘unprofessional’ NAIA security check on ENHYPEN

  Fans are speaking out about the ‘unprofessional’ frisking of the K-pop group ENHYPEN at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

  On February 5, a TikTok video showing a female employee giggling as she pats down its members has gone viral. The seven-piece boy group were preparing to board their flight back to South Korea after their three-day ‘Manifesto’ concert in Manila.

  Manila International Airport Authority’s no-contact protocols does not encourage body checks. In fact, it states that pat-downs should only be conducted in “exceptional cases.”

  That said, ENGENEs were quick to express their ire on social media. Furthermore, they accuse the staff of unprofessionalism and violating the group’s personal space and privacy. Some also noted that the filming breaches the group’s agency, Belift Lab’s etiquette guidelines.

  The Office for Transportation Security (OTS) has launched an investigation into the incident. The organization is in charge of the security of the Philippines’ transportation systems.

  ENGENEs, on the other hand, decides not “to let this pass” and are talking to a lawyer about the incident.

  “We are now working closely with an Attorney,” the ENHYPEN fan account ENHYPEN ASIA posted on Twitter on February 7.

  “We will be proceeding to the next step later today, because it’s so tiring to hear ‘we will investigate’ ‘we’ll see if the one who uploaded the video is our staff’ repeatedly.”

  “Again, we won’t let this pass. No way,” the account added.
