In response to the lawsuit from her former tour dancers, Lizzo expressed her reaction to the recent filing of cases against her – alongside her touring company and dance captain. This was her first public response to the bombshell lawsuit. Lizzo firmly denied the claims, labeling them as “false allegations” and “sensationalized stories.” She expressed how difficult and disappointing the past few days had been for her, and how her work ethic, morals, and respectfulness had been questioned.
Three former dancers of Lizzo filed a civil lawsuit in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Tuesday, accusing her of sexual harassment and creating a hostile work environment. This news came as a shock to many who admired the 35-year-old singer for her dedication to body positivity. The lawsuit, filed by Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams, and Noelle Rodriguez, alleges various legal wrongdoings by Lizzo (real name Melissa Jefferson), her company, Big Grrrl Big Touring (BGBT), Inc., and dance captain Shirlene Quigley – contained detailed factual allegations spanning multiple pages.
While Lizzo usually “chooses not to respond to false accusations,” she felt compelled to address these particularly outrageous claims; she explained that the stories were being spread by former employees who had already admitted their behavior on tour was inappropriate and unprofessional.

As someone “open about her sexuality and self-expression”, she refused to allow her “openness” to be misconstrued “to paint her as someone she is not.”
Despite being “hurt” by the situation, the pop star stated: “I will not let the good work I’ve done in the world be overshadowed by this. I want to thank everyone who has reached out in support to lift me (up) during this difficult time.”
