  • Pinoy artists in the music and theater arts community have performed together “Umagang Kay Ganda” to raise funds for displaced creative workers amid COVID-19 threat and enhanced community quarantine over Luzon island.

Over 50 artists performed online to raise awareness on the fund raising project of the Artists Welfare Project, Inc. (AWPI). The cause was initiated by the acclaimed actor and writer Rody Vera, theater director Steven Conde and Filipino-American singer songwriter Niño Alejandro.

Among the artists performed were Lea Salonga, Rachel Alejandro, Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo, Audie Gemora, Robert Seña, Isay Alvarez, Mark Bautista, Nyoy Volante, Myke Salomon, and Gab Pangilinan.

“Your donations go to at least 7,000 creative workers in different disciplines who seek help to get food on the table for their families. In behalf of freelance workers in the creative industry, please support our fund raising for freelance artists in the audio visual, entertainment and performing arts so they remain healthy and safe while this virus is still at large,” the AWPI appealed.
