Francisco Martin finishes at top 5 in ‘American Idol’

• Filipino-American and college student Francisco Martin has made it to the top 5 of the “American Idol” on its first virtual finale on Sunday, May 17.

  Martin performed a rendition of Harry Style’s “Adore You” and “Alaska” by Maggie Rogers, the song he performed in audition.

  The top five contestants were required to have two performances: first is the song they want to perform after the COVID-19 pandemic and the other one is the song they have performed on the past rounds.

  “You have been a model student. You have taken all of our notes and every time I see you, I smile while you’re performing because you have delivered the goods on graduation day.” Lionel Richie commented after the performance.
