‘Grease’ star Olivia Newton-John passes away at 73

  Australian singer and actress Olivia Newton-John passed away at the age 73.

  On an Instagram post, Newton-John’s husband stated, “Dame Olivia Newton-John passed away peacefully at her Ranch in Southern California this morning, surrounded by family and friends. We ask that everyone please respect the family’s privacy during this very difficult time,” her husband, John Easterling, wrote in a statement on the singer’s verified Instagram account. “Olivia has been a symbol of triumphs and hope for over 30 years sharing her journey with breast cancer.” 

  She was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1992. She became an advocate for breast cancer awareness and treatment thus founding Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness and Research Centre in her hometown of Melbourne, Australia.

  Newton-John was loved by her fans for her performance as Sandy in the 1978 musical Grease. She was also able to win two Grammy Awards for her 1974 country single “I Honestly Love You.”
