Jona is one of the successful singer and recording artist of this generation but despite this fact, she always looks back to her humble beginnings.
In a press conference for their concert entitled “The Aces” with Darren Espanto and Lani Misalucha, Jona related her experiences as a performer and as an artist as well. “There were times when I found myself wondering if there were other things I could pursue, if I could switch careers. But I eventually realized that [my voice] is a gift, and that I would be putting it to waste if I don’t use it wisely,” she said.
“Sometimes, I would arrive home at dawn, tired, after doing shows, then prepare for another one … I feel like crying, at times, because I couldn’t get enough rest or sleep. But I embrace it. This is where I was put in … This is my way of serving Him and others.” Jona added.
She also stressed the importance of surrounding oneself with people who remains humble despite their reign and success. “I started at the bottom. I know what it feels like not to be noticed and appreciated. And I still carry that with me all the time … to remind myself where I came from.”
“It’s always good to have people with that mindset; people who will remind you not to brag, but just let others see the good in you. Talent is God’s gift to us, and he can take it away anytime.”
