Katy Perry loses “Dark Horse” copyright case

Katy Perry and five other were found liable by the presiding jury for the underlying beat of Marcus Gray’s “Joyful Noise” used on her hit single entitled “Dark Horse.”
It was 2014 when Gray sued Perry and collaborators who claimed that Perry’s team used the beat of his song in “Dark Horse” without any permission form them.
Collaborators of Perry, namely Lukasz Gottwald (Dr. Luke), Karl Martin Sandberg (Max Martin), Henry Walter (Cirkut), songwriter Sarah Hudson and Jordan Michael Houston (Juicy J) were liable of the same offense together with Capitol Records, Warner Bros. Music Corporation, Kobalt Publishing and Kasz Money Inc. as well.
Katy Perry was not present when the verdict was read and promulgated.
