‘KILL THE WEEKND:’ The Weeknd bids farewell to stage name over forthcoming album

  Canadian singer-songwriter The Weeknd, also known as “Abel Tesfaye, ” has surprised his fans by announcing his plans to retire his stage name.

  During an interview with GQ, Tesfaye revealed that he intends to conclude his successful career under the name “The Weeknd” after the release of his upcoming album, “Kill The Weeknd.”

  The “Blinding Lights” musician explained that the album’s title symbolizes his desire to move on from his current persona and embark on a new chapter in his life: “I’ve been The Weeknd for over a decade now, and I feel like I’ve accomplished everything I could under that name.” He added, “I’m ready to retire the persona and move on to new things.”

  Although fans were saddened by the news, Tesfaye remains optimistic about his future and plans to continue making music under his birth name, “Abel.”

  His final performances as The Weeknd are expected to take place over the “After Hours Til Dawn” tour, and fans eagerly look forward to catching a final glimpse of the iconic musician before he moves on to new endeavors. The Weeknd’s “Kill The Weeknd” is set to be released later this year.
