Highly acclaimed indie-rock OPM band Lola Amour is elated over ENHYPEN members Jake and Jungwon’s recognition of their latest hit track, “Raining in Manila.”

On July 14, K-pop boy group ENHYPEN member Jake graciously fulfilled the request of Filipino ENGENEs (the collective’s fanbase), who asked him to play “Raining in Manila” during his live stream on Weverse.

The ENHYPEN member was spotted enjoying the track, even though he didn’t understand its meaning; he expressed his liking for the melody despite the absence of English lyrics. His enthusiastic response served as a testament to the song’s universal appeal and the band’s musical prowess.

The Korean-Australian group member expressed, “There’s no English [lyrics], so I don’t know what it means, but I like the melody.” He added, “It’s a good song!” Jake was pleasantly surprised when he saw comments from his Filipino ENGENEs, as he initially thought it was actually raining in Manila.

In one tweet, Lola Amour exclaimed, “OMG,” expressing their enthusiasm. They also extended their gratitude to ENHYPEN fans for their unwavering support.

The band members followed through, saying that they were in the midst of a gig when they received the delightful news that Jake had not only listened to but also genuinely enjoyed their song.

They also tweeted, “Until now, ang dami pa ding ENGENEs na nagcocomment sa socials namin. Super thank you again for your support! (Now…) what Enhypen song should we add to our rainy day playlist?”

Then, Lola Amour expressed their gratitude to ENHYPEN on Weverse for their support:

“(JAKE) thank you for listening to our song “Raining in Manila!” Glad you liked it even if it’s in Filipino!” They added that they can’t wait to meet ENHYPEN in Manila soon.

However, it wasn’t just Jake who appreciated the song.

On July 16, another ENHYPEN member, Jungwon, also revealed on Weverse that he had given the track a listen.

The band is in disbelief that there’s another member enthusiastic about their release.

As a result, the band released an English translation and a lyric breakdown of the track for non-Filipino listeners who recently discovered the song.

The song “Raining in Manila,” released last month, revolves around the theme of missing a friend who left the country to pursue a better life.

Over the weekend, Lola Amour’s “Raining in Manila” soared to the top position on Spotify’s Philippine charts. Notably, the indie-rock band claimed the leading spot as Spotify Philippines’ Daily Top OPM group, in addition to becoming the most streamed OPM artist with over three million monthly listeners.

Lola Amour has gained recognition for their unique sound and captivating storytelling in songs such as “Fallen,” “Pwede Ba,” “Maybe Maybe,” and “Dahan-dahan.”

On the other hand, ENHYPEN, a seven-member act, is recognized for their songs “Drunk-Dazed,” “Blessed-Cursed,” “FEVER,” “Bite Me,” and “Polaroid Love.”
