  Prepare to meet the Whitney Houston we never knew!

  From being a New Jersey choir girl to becoming a best-selling and the most awarded performer of all time – Sony Pictures Entertainment and Columbia Pictures released the first trailer for the late “Will Always Love You” singer Whitney Houston’s biopic “I Wanna Dance With Somebody.”

  The trailer shows a glimpse of Houston’s iconic looks, music videos, life, career highlights, and even her difficult journey. Unfortunately, she suffered from drug addiction and passed away in 2012 at the young age of 48 years.

  Starring BAFTA Award winner Naomi Ackie, known for her roles in “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker,” “The End of the F***ing World,” and “Doctor Who” – is set to embody the late vocal powerhouse. She is also to be cast alongside  Ashton Sanders as Bobby Brown, Stanley Tucci as Clive Davis, Clarke Peters as Whitney’s father John Houston, and Tamara Tunie as Cissy Houston – the mother.

  The biopic is directed by Kasi Lemmons and written by “Bohemian Rhapsody” screenwriter Anthony McCarten.

  The film is set for release on December 21, 2022, and hits Philippine theaters on January 2023.

  Whitney Houston is known for her greatest hits – “How Will I Know,” “Greatest Love of All,” “I Have Nothing,” the song that inspired the film title, “I Wanna Dance With Somebody,” and more.
