Fresh from the heels of their successful Then and Now concert last September, Filipino pop band Side A is back to the studio to record a brand-new song titled, “Clueless.

Written by bassist Ned Esguerra, the song is “about dealing with the difficulties of being in a broken relationship whose reason for ending remains ambiguous and unclear.”

The piano-driven ballad attempts to express the thoughts and sentiments of anyone who finds themselves struggling to make sense of why things suddenly took a turn for the worse, with lyrics such as “Just give me a reason, it doesn’t matter if it’s wrong / You can break my heart and say goodbye, just tell me why / ’Coz it’s cold outside and you will never know, I’ll be clueless when you go...”

Dubbed as the Philippines’ premiere band and the local version of the band Toto, Side A has specialized in such themes since its founding in 1985. For over three decades, fans have developed a soft spot for the band’s brand of love songs.

Composed of lead vocalist Yubs Esperat, guitarist Leevon Cailao, bassist Ned Esguerra, keyboardist Naldy Gonzalez, and drummer Ernie Severino, the band is best known for their hit singles, “Forevermore,” “So Many Questions,” “Set You Free,” and “Tell Me,” among others.

Clueless takes after these well-loved classics in an effort to follow in Side A’s tradition of memorable hits and already has the makings of an instant classic.

Released by Widescope Entertainment, the song is now available on major streaming platforms.

Here’s Clueless to help you make sense of how you went from being in love to brokenhearted:
