One day after Mariah Carey’s camp took shots to Dick Clark Productions, the pop diva breaks her silence regarding the on-air mishap she suffered on New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest according Entertainment Weekly.

“All I can say is Dick Clark was an incredible person and I was lucky enough to work with him when I first started in the music business,” Carey told in an interview. “I’m of the opinion that Dick Clark would not have let an artist go through that and he would have been as mortified as I was in real time.”

Carey suffered quite the snafu on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest, when her in-ear audio stopped working during her performance of her hit “Emotions.”

Although Carey was clearly frustrated while dealing with on-air mishap — and BWR-PR’s Nicole Perna claims DCP’s production team “set her up to fail” — the singer insisted that the incident hasn’t scared her away from doing another live on-air performance.

“It’s not going to stop me from doing a live event in the future,” the singer said. “But it will make me less trusting of using anyone outside of my own team.”

Carey thanked her “true fans” and media that offered their support after the train wreck performance. “I am so appreciative of them,” she said. “It really was an incredible holiday season that turned into a horrible New Year’s Eve.”

Carey is set to have an upcoming tour with Lionel Richie for 35 dates starting in March.
