Mariah Carey’s camp blames the show’s producer on the singer’s troubled performance on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest according to Billboard.

Nicole Perna, Carey’s rep claims that the producers set Mariah Carey to fail her performance for the sake of ratings. “A shame that production set her up to fail,” she said.

The pop diva’s rep also claimed that the producers were aware of the technical problems but did not fix them. “They told her it would be fine once she was on stage,” she says. “However, that was not the case and they were again told that her ear piece was not working. Instead of endeavoring to fix the issue so that Mariah could perform, they went live.”

The veteran production company answered back saying Carey had an ample to rehearse and chose not to. An insider also said that even though Mariah did not do a vocal run-through, everything was working on the technical side. “The music was provided by her team, there were no fewer than eight audio monitor wedges in front of her and the dancers had no problem syncing up to the music.”

The mishap came after her ‘Auld Lang Syne’ performance which left the singer at loss during her hit song ‘Emotions’, struggling to reach notes and to sync the lyrics and music.

The trouble continued when she stopped singing ‘We Belong Together’ while the recording of the song continued to play, wherein she allegedly was lip-syncing.
