OPM artist Morissette Amon is tasked to sing the Philippine National Anthem at the final State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Rodrigo Duterte, July 23, Friday.
Morissette is expected to sing the national anthem of the country live at the Batasang Pambansa in Quezon City. She was invited by the House of Representatives. The organizers told Morissette not to do her famous ‘whistle’ style while singing the anthem.
The President will deliver his final SONA on Monday, July 26.
“Given that the COVID-19 pandemic has to be taken into consideration in undertaking an important event, such as this year’s Sona, more or less 400 physical attendees with negative COVID-19 tests will be allowed at the Batasang Pambansa’s Batasan Hall,” Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Martin Andanar.
President’s favorite songs pre-recorded by the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra (PPO) will also be played such as Freddie Aguilar’s ‘Ang Pagbabago,’ Louis Armstrong’s ‘What a Wonderful World,’ Kansas’ ‘Dust in the Wind,’ and Richard Harris’ ‘McArthur Park.’
