Oscar-winning lyricist Marilyn Bergman dies at 93

The Oscar-winning lyricist Marilyn Bergman has died peacefully early Saturday morning, January 8. She was 93.
According to the family representative, Ken Sunshine, the cause of death was a non-COVID related respiratory failure. Her husband, 96, survives her.
Marilyn Bergman teamed with her husband, Alan Bergman, were revered as writing tandems in the tenets of movie music history. Some of their popular works were ‘The Windmills of Your Mind,’ ‘Yentl,’ and ‘The Way We Were’ which won Academy Awards from 1960s to 1980s.
On his Twitter account, Tony Bennett paid tribute to the legendary artist. “Marilyn and Alan Bergman with Michele Legrand wrote my favorite song, ‘How Do You Keep The Music Playing?’ We lost Marilyn today, but her music keeps playing,” he tweeted.

The Legendary songwriter and ASCAP president/chairman Paul Williams also shared a statement, “It is with deep sadness that I personally, and all of ASCAP, mourn the passing of Marilyn Bergman — one of the greatest lyricists who ever lived and truly ASCAP royalty… Our community will miss her intelligence, her wit and her wisdom. Alan — we mourn with you.”
