Parokya ni Edgar guitarist Gab Chee Kee battles Lymphoma; Chito Miranda and other artists to raise funds

  Parokya ni Edgar frontman Chito Miranda has revealed that the band’s guitarist Gab Chee Kee is now in the Intensive Care Unit due to pneumonia, a complication brought on by lymphoma.

  In a Facebook post, Miranda said that Gab will not be able to perform live with the band because his doctors advised him to take a rest and focus on his treatment. The veteran guitarist was diagnosed with lymphoma in late 2022 and has been undergoing chemotherapy.

  “Unfortunately, due to complications brought about by his condition, he is now battling pneumonia and was recently transferred in the ICU and has been intubated for more than a week already,” Chito said in his post. “I asked my bandmates na kung pwede, ‘wag nalang din muna kami tumugtog habang wala si Gab. Pero kinausap kami ni Gab and asked us to continue playing, because he doesn’t want us to stop playing just because we’re waiting for him to get better. So we did,” the band’s frontman added.

  Parokya ni Edgar and other artists such as Ebe Dancel, Kamikazee, Gloc9, Moonstar88, and many more have announced that they will be doing a series of gigs to raise funds for Gab’s treatment.
