Prince tops the Billboard 200 Albums Chart with ‘The Very Best Of’ and ‘Purple Rain’

Prince rules the number 1 and 2 spots on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart with his greatest hits album ‘The Very Best Of’ and ‘Purple Rain’ OST since his death.
Prince died on the final day of Billboard’s tracking week for sales and streaming charts which indicated that fans rushed to purchase his music after hearing his death on the news.
To date, Prince’s albums sold 654,000 copies in the U.S. alone between April 15 and 24. His individual songs sold 2.82 million downloads with the same time span.
Aside from topping the Billboard 200 Albums Chart, five of his songs also returned on Billboard’s Hot 100: ‘Purple Rain’ (No. 5); ‘When Doves Cry’ (No. 8); ‘Kiss’ (12); ‘Little Red Corvette’ (No. 13); ‘Let’s Go Crazy’ (No. 15).
