The Recording Academy is considering to postpone the 64th annual Grammy Awards due to the Omicron variant of COVID-19, January 3, Monday.
According to multiple sources, organizers says it’s “looking likely.” This year’s Grammys is set for January 31 at the Crypto Arena in Los Angeles, California.
The Recording Academy is known to prefer to hold the show in an arena at full capacity to get considerable ticket revenue. They would lose that income a scaled-back show will be held just like in 2021. A Recording Academy spokesman emphasized that no decision has been made and urged caution against speculation set off by an unnamed source.
If reports from sources are true, this would be the second year in a row that the Grammys have been postponed due to COVID-19 pandemic. Last year’s show was set for January 31 but later postponed to March 14 due to spike in COVID-19 cases in Los Angeles.
