Avril Lavigne breaks her silence on the old conspiracy theory saying that she is already replaced by a clone. The singer says it is “just a dumb internet rumor.”
It was 2003 that a rumor spread among her diehard fans saying that she died and was replaced by a body double named “Melissa.” The Independent, a United Kingdom network, said it originated from a Brazilian fan page in 2005.
On her Entertainment Weekly interview she said, “It’s just a dumb internet rumor and I’m flabbergasted that people bought into it… Isn’t that so weird? It’s so dumb.”
“I think I was about to die because I had this weird feeling of, ‘Whoa. I feel like I’m on a cliff and I’m about to fall, and it’s dark,’ Coming out of it I felt like I was underwater drowning, coming up for air. That’s when I literally said, ‘God, help me keep my head above water.’”
