Rihanna to take center stage at Super Bowl LVII halftime show

  Barbadian singer, actress, and businesswoman Rihanna will headline the Super Bowl LVII halftime show, the main event sponsor Apple Music confirmed on Monday, September 26.
  
  This marks her first public performance in over five years, as she last appeared onstage at the 2018 Grammy Awards for her Wild Thoughts performance with DJ Khaled.

  “IT’S ON. @rihanna will take the stage for the first ever Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show on 2.12.23,” Apple Music wrote in a tweet featuring an image of the musician’s raised hand holding a football.

  The music superstar and beauty mogul previously declined Super Bowl halftime show in solidarity with former San Francisco 49ers’ Colin Kaepernick. Since kneeling during the national anthem in protest of ongoing police brutality against Black people, the said quarterback has not played for the league in several years.

  The Super Bowl, the biggest event in American football, will be held on February 12 at Glendale’s State Farm Stadium.
  
  “Rihanna is a generational talent, a woman of humble beginnings who has surpassed expectations at every turn,” said Jay-Z, whose Roc Nation is an executive producer of the show, in a statement. “A person born on the small island of Barbados who became one of the most prominent artists ever. Self-made in business and entertainment.”

  The Rihanna Navy have waited for years for the promised follow-up to her eighth studio album Anti from 2016, which included the hit single Work.

  In July, Rihanna was named by Forbes as the youngest self-made female billionaire after hitting the $1.4 billion net worth mark. She and her partner A$AP Rocky also welcomed a baby boy in May.
