Sam Smith lauds Pinoy student in viral karaoke video

  Sam Smith’s attention was caught by a Filipino student who belted out “Too Good at Goodbyes” on a videoke exhibit in a shopping center in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental province.

  Sharing the kid’s video on Twitter, Smith exclaimed, “WHO IS THIS KID!!!!!? YOU ARE OUT OF THIS UNIVERSE WHOEVER YOU ARE.”

  The boy in the video is Carl Malone Montecido from Bacolod City and the video was recorded by a certain Trixie Madison and uploaded it on Facebook. It quickly went viral having more than 13 million views as of this writing from the day it was uploaded, February 5.

  Montecido known as “blind balladeer” has joined competitions such as ABS-CBN’s “Pilipinas Got Talent” in 2010 and “Tawag ng Tanghalan” in 2017.
