British artist Sam Smith has finally released “Writing’s on the Wall”, the theme for the upcoming James Bond movie “Spectre”.
Smith and his co-writer Jimmy Napes wrote the song in just half an hour and quickly recorded a demo of the song which they ended up using on the final release.
“I have been dreaming of this moment for a long long time.” Smith wrote in his twitter account. “With this song I don’t care about it charting and things like that. I just care about doing the legacy proud,” He said in interviews after the release of the Spectre theme song, adding that he was “not even thinking about the Oscars”.
He is the first solo male British artist to perform a Bond film’s theme song since 1964 when Tom Jones sings the theme song of Thunderball.
Spectre, directed by Sam Mendes and starring Daniel Craig, is in theaters November 6, 2015.
