The “Hit Different” R&B singer SZA’s much anticipated sophomore album S.O.S. is finally formally teased on November 30 – when the singer shared the album’s official cover art on Instagram.

The image, which was posted without any caption, shows the “Good Days” singer seated, gazing on the end of a very long diving board above the water. Additionally, she is seen sporting a football jersey with “S.O.S.” sewn on it.

Per a Billboard interview, SZA revealed that the second studio album’s release is set for December 2022. The upcoming album is in the succession to her first full-length album, Ctrl (2017).

However, talking about “S.O.S.,” she also expressed uncertainty about the direction and future of her musical career. She admits feelings of pressure and stress meeting her December 2022 deadline; “I could literally burst into tears and run through this wall at any moment. I am effectively falling apart.” She added, “But it’s not like, the album pressure… It’s just, life is f**king hard. To be expected to do anything at a high level while life is life-ing is f**king crazy. This isn’t meant for a person; it’s meant for a machine.

She continued by saying that she enjoys writing, creating, and singing. However, she is unsure whether pursuing superstardom or whatever else she is supposed to be doing at the moment is sustainable for her or for anybody else. “I’mma give ’em my absolute best,” she said.

SZA dropped her most recent track after a year since its teaser, “Shirt,” earlier in October. It debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 11. SZA recently contributed to Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop Power Players edition and released another high-charting track.

S.O.S. is expected to be released by Top Dawg Entertainment “in December” 2022.
