“Blank Space” singer Taylor Swift is set for another milestone in her entire music and film career.
“All Too Well: The Short Film,” directed by and starred in by the very performer, is eligible for an Oscar for the upcoming 95th Academy Awards on March 2023. This is her first-ever nomination in the said awarding body. The short film-slash-music video is qualified for Best Live Action Short Film. It was later revealed that the superstar is in the works with a top consulting firm for the awards campaign.
The said piece premiered on November 13, 2021, alongside the re-rendition (a.k.a., Taylor’s Version) of her third studio album “Red” nearly a decade after its release. The originally 3-minute song was given its extended 10-minute version; it talks of age gaps, being in a short-paced relationship, and the latter coming to an end. The more extended version of the song was given its music video turned short film, starring Sadie Sink from Stranger Things, Teen Wolf’s Dylan O’Brien, and Taylor Swift herself. The flick is based on a true story about Swift’s relationship with actor Jake Gyllenhaal. More so, the video garnered a whopping 73 million views and counting as of this date.
The songwriter-filmmaker quoted, “I wanted to make a film about an effervescent, curious young woman who ends up completely out of her depth.” She added, “You know when you’re walking into the ocean? It’s so fun, the idea of going out so far, your feet don’t touch the ground. But you can get swept away.”
With the number of awards Swift has received over the past years, she is also nearing an “EGOT” status – a significant Hollywood prestige. Being an EGOT would mean being an awardee of large awarding bodies in the US – The Emmys, Grammys, Oscars, and Tony Awards.
All the 2023 Academy Awards nominations are expected to be released on January 24, 2023.
