Taylor Swift lambasts Damon Albarn over songwriting, ownership remarks

  American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift has lambasted British band Blur’s lead singer Damon Albarn after claiming she doesn’t write her own songs, January 25, Tuesday.

  Albarn was in an interview for the Los Angeles Times on Sunday, January 23, when he answered a question about Swift. “She doesn’t write her own songs. Co-writing is very different to writing. I’m not hating on anybody, I’m just saying there’s a big difference between a songwriter and a songwriter who co-writes,” Albarn said.

  Swift expressed dismay through a tweet, saying, “I was such a big fan of yours until I saw this. I write ALL of my own songs. Your hot take is completely false and SO damaging. You don’t have to like my songs but it’s really fucked up to try and discredit my writing. WOW.”

  Albarn later apologized and said in a tweet, “I totally agree with you. i had a conversation about songwriting and sadly it was reduced to clickbait. I apologise unreservedly and unconditionally. The last thing I would want to do is discredit your songwriting. I hope you understand.”

  Blur is one of the most influential rock bands in the United Kingdom. Along with Oasis, Pulp, and Suede, it was considered as one of the Britpop’s ‘big four.’
