The official title Swift will receive is Doctor of Fine Arts, honoris causa. The degree will be Taylor’s first, since she started to release hits and headlining tours. Aside from her new doctorate, the ‘All Too Well’ singer will also address the graduating class of 2022. As part of the celebration, Swift released a new merch with “I’m feeling ’22” graduation cap patches, stickers, T-shirts and more.
“I cannot overstate how thrilled I am to be coming together in person with graduates, parents, faculty, and honorees for NYU’s Commencement. Since 2019, we have been deprived of Commencement’s festive, communal joy, and its absence has been keenly felt,” said NYU President Andrew Hamilton.
Swift has previously been associated with NYU, as the university has conducted a course about her work, although she played no direct role in that curriculum.
