The Weeknd has been named the “world’s most popular artist” by Guinness World Records after setting two new titles.
According to the most recent update, the Canadian singer-songwriter has the most monthly Spotify listeners (111.4 million as of March 20, 2023) and is the first artist to reach 100 million monthly listeners on the streaming giant.
Based on the data, he currently has nearly 30 million more monthly listeners than Miley Cyrus, who has 82.4 million in the wake of releasing her hotly anticipated eighth studio album Endless Summer Vacation.
Additionally, other artists who trail the 33-year-old include Shakira (81.6 million), Ariana Grande (80.6 million), Taylor Swift (80. 2 million), Rihanna (78.5 million), and Ed Sheeran (77.5 million).
He also has ‘Die For You’ remix with Grande to thank for reaching the new career milestone, says Guinness World Records.
“Michael Jackson is the only other solo male musician to have ever achieved this feat,” it added.
Furthermore, The Weeknd has received numerous awards such as four Grammys, six American Music Awards, two MTV Video Music Awards, and a Latin Grammy.
