A recording of an interview of John Lennon with Yoko Ono in 1970 has been auctioned in Copenhagen, Denmark, September 28, Tuesday.
The cassette tape was sold for 370,000 Danish crowns or $58,300. Bids for the tape started at 100,000 crowns. It was not immediately known who bought the recording.
It includes an unreleased song entitled ‘Radio Peace,’ which is said to be recorded on January 5, 1970. It was recorded by four 16-year-old Danish boys who interviewed the couple for a school magazine.
The 68-year-old Karsten Hojen, one of the four owners of the tape, was present during the auction. “The meeting with John Lennon and Yoko Ono has had a great impact on our lives because we saw them as a kind of political prophets and symbols of peace,” he said in a statement.
