Whitney Houston breaks record as first Black artist with three diamond albums

The late Whitney Houston has been officially named as the first Black recording artist having three diamond certified albums, October 28, Thursday.
The recognition has been made because of her second studio effort entitled “Whitney” in 1987 became certified 10x platinum. This album has produced five Billboard Top 10 singles with the first four songs namely, “I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me),” “Didn’t We Almost Have It All,” “So Emotional” and “Where Do Broken Hearts Go.”
With “Whitney” joining the singer’s 1985 self-titled debut and the 1992 soundtrack to “The Bodyguard” in the diamond column, the singer becomes the first Black artist to earn the three-peat recognition regardless whether if it is male, female, solo or group.
As of this writing, there are three Black artists who have two Diamond albums namely Michael Jackson, 2Pac and Mariah Carey. the other ten in the records had one.
