5 relationship red flags that should make you runaway

We all think that our current partner is “The One.” However, not everything falls according to plan. There are some red flags coming along the way that we should be aware of. With that, let’s take a look at some warnings when you should run away from your relationship.

    Red Flag Alert #1: Inconsistencies

Being consistent in a relationship provides assurance to our feelings. You’ll know someone will be there in times we need them. It’ll be hard if we find ourselves in a relationship where we have to always second guess if our partner is coming or not. Will they call us regularly or just once in a blue moon?

Inconsistencies should be a warning that your partner is not making a conscious effort to create a routine with you. They might have strong feelings for you but are not willing to build a strong foundation for a long and healthy relationship.

    Red Flag Alert #2: Possessiveness

Jealousy is a cute thing for couples. It’s normal especially if there’s a reason to be jealous. However, it’s a different thing if it leads to threats, anger, or hostility. Being possessive towards you is not a good sign especially if they won’t allow you to mingle with your friends.

It’s nice to feel wanted, but too much possessiveness could lead to a very toxic relationship. So, try to talk first to your partner about their possessive tendencies. If it doesn’t pan out anything positive, then it’s time for you to move on.

Red Flag Alert #3: Anger Issues

They say people get calmer in the presence of the one they love. So, it is already a warning sign when your partner is easily agitated over petty things. If you have no effect emotionally with them, it’ll be harder for you to penetrate the deepest layer of their personality. Hence, it is impossible to create a strong bond between you and your partner.

Another thing to worry about when your partner has anger issues is their violent tendencies. It’ll be a messy relationship if both of you didn’t address this at the beginning of your relationship.

    Red Flag Alert #4: Gaslighting

Gaslighting means your partner is consistently manipulating your feelings by actively denying your own reality. Being gaslit can make you doubt your own emotion and intuition. You might depend on your partner to tell you what or how you should feel.

This is a big red flag since your significant other is always invalidating your emotion. They will always try to discourage you from expressing your feelings since it is not the “real” situation.

Red Flag Alert #5: Unreciprocated Effort

Some say that it’s better to give than to receive. Maybe, but not in a relationship. Your partner should be able to exert the same effort as you. After all, it is nice to feel that someone is doing everything they can to make you happy too.

However, if you don’t feel that your partner is reciprocating your effort then, that it is a red flag. If that is the case, you should tell your partner how you feel. Otherwise, it’s time to move on and redirect all your love to yourself first.
