Remember what Nadine Lustre said that became an expression for millennials last year?

    “Come on, guys, it’s 2017!”

And we’re just changing the year! Come on, guys, it’s 2018! Let’s stop fooling ourselves and let’s stop lying about what we feel. Let’s stop telling ourselves the things we can’t do. It’s time to own your emotions and stop saying…

    1. “Hindi na ‘ko iiyak dahil sa kanya.”

You have always said this every time you have cried your heart out. You have always told yourself that you won’t cry over someone you fell in love to but didn’t love you back because they are not worth your tears. You have said that to yourself every year. Scrap it! No one knows when his or her heart falls in love and no one knows when it will be broken. If your heart gets broken this year, charge it to experience and remember that every heart break is one step closer to the one who really owns your heart. Fall in love, fall hard. But never lose yourself in the process of loving someone.

Someone said, “’Pag nasaktan, edi umiyak. Tapos landi na ulit.” Yep, that’s the power!

    2. “Hindi ko na siya kakausapin.”

We have tried this—everybody did—just to get over someone and so that they can detach. But you are too pokmaru, lodi. When he or she starts a conversation, you will start giving cold responses. And eventually, you will find yourself talking to that person again and enjoying that moment. Sometimes you have to stop fooling yourself that you do not want these little moments of chit-chat with the person you love. Whether it makes sense or not, we always want to talk to the person who means the world to us.

    3. “Hindi na ‘ko magpapakatanga.”

HAHAHAHA! How many times a year do you tell yourself these very words? And how many times did you fail yourself?

We all get stupid and for some reasons we get stupid for the wrong people. We get stupid for the people we are head-over-heels for. And even if we have control over it, we take risks. Because it’s when we take risks that we know if we deserve the person. Face it, we forget the diploma, we forget the position we have when we fall in love.

“Wala eh. Tanga eh,” you said.

    4. “Hindi na ‘ko aasa.”

Did you even believe yourself when you said these words?

One day, you set yourself some boundaries but a little tap in your heart, few nice words, few sweet actions, you give in. You expect that maybe, just maybe, there’s still something in store for both of you. Or maybe you both have space in this universe.

Everyone wants the feeling of being somebody to someone because it feels good. And if you expect, that’s okay. Who doesn’t want that feeling? It’s just that, sometimes, it’s we don’t get consistent attention. So maybe it’s safe to expect the unexpected.

    5. “Hindi na ‘ko maghahabol.”

Remember Basha’s line in One More Chance? The part when she said, “Ako na lang, ako na lang ulit…” You don’t want to say these lines. You don’t want the chasing game. But sometimes we get to swallow all the ego, all the pride that we have for the person we love. Seriously, even if how many times you tell yourself that you are so done, there will come a time that you will run after the person you love. That’s what love can do.

Again, you say, “Wala eh. Tanga eh.”

    6. “Mamahalin ko na sarili ko.”

    via GIPHY

    And you never did.

You always tried but you never did. You always loved someone more than yourself. You are the happiest when the person you are with is happy. Even if you continuously say that you’ll choose yourself first, the truth is, we choose people who do not choose us. We choose the people who gives us temporary feelings, temporary love, temporary comfort, we choose temporary things. That is not even love for oneself.

    7. “Last na ‘to.”

You said this and found yourself giving it a shot of the nth time. Wala eh, marupok eh.
