It may be tempting as may be, but having an office romance can be super awkward.
Having an affair with your co-worker can be a danger especially when things go really crazy between you, your office sweet heart and your coworkers. It will make your world upside down.
That’s why you shouldn’t date your co-worker. Here’s why:
#LunchDate
Where it all started. From a simple “Kumain ka na? Tara, Kain tayo.” To “Gusto kita makasabay mag-lunch araw-araw.”
Admit it, at first, it may be sweet but as time pasts it gets irritating, right? It’s really becomes annoying when you want to eat your lunch at peace and someone insists on joining you.
The New Talk of the Town
The moment your co-workers knew that you and your colleague are now a ‘hot item’, you’ll be the new talk of the town.
Don’t try to contain the gossip because it has already spread fast like a virus that even the establishment guard knows it.
You Get To See Him/Her Every Second, Minute, Hour, Everyday
As the saying goes, absence makes the heart grow fonder.
But when it comes to dating your co-worker, that opposite happens just because you get to see each other every second, minute, hour, day.
The feeling of excitement or the chance of getting to miss each other shrinks that can cause the spark of your relationship wear off quickly.
The Cause of All Distraction
Forget my work because I can’t take my eyes off you.
Dating a co-worker can really be distracting especially if he/she’s the hottest person in the office.
Just a reminder, you’re not getting paid to stare at someone’s face so don’t spend your time daydreaming but instead do what you need to do.
Subject of Conversation: JUST WORK
When the only topic you two are talking about is work.
Yes, it’s already given that you two will be talking about work because duh you’re co-workers.
But what if you already had talked about everything about work and ends up talking about nothing because you two have nothing really in common that you can get along with?
Maybe you’re forcing your conversation rather than just conversing naturally, if you know what I mean.
Work and Life Becomes Imbalance
Juggling work and life is already a struggle, so what more if you’re dating your office colleague?
When you’re in that type of intimate office relationship the balance between life and work gets disrupted. Instead of focusing with your life outside work, you get to focus more on work just because your dating your co-worker.
#NoWayOut
When you’re in a heated argument with your office fling, you will not be able to run from it to cool down.
Unlike in a ‘normal’ relationship, you can just easily walk out from it by heading off to work.
There’s no way out because you’ll get to see each other every time after the argument which definitely creates the unneeded workplace drama.
“Mag-bibreak Din Kayo”
Just like everyone is keep saying, “Mag-bibreak din kayo,”.
Let’s be frank here, not all office romances don’t work out. So the first thing that will be affected when you and co-worker breaks up, is your WORK. Believe me, everything at work will really be awkward and uncomfortable.
I’m not saying here that you should avoid dating your co-worker at all cost.
No one forbids you to find your significant partner at work as long as you’re doing your job and you’re not hurting other’s feelings.
