8 Reasons Why Your Millennial Tito And Tita Are The Best Barkada

  We get it, your tito and tita can be your frienemies sometimes. But admit it, guys! Sometimes they are the best people to chaperone you on concerts, shopping, gimmicks, or even joke around with.

  Don’t deny it, you’d rather choose your tita/tito to drive you going at a party than dad or mom. Or even tell that you’re crushin’ on someone. And you know why?

  1. BECAUSE YOU DON’T REALLY SPEND WHEN YOU’RE WITH THEM.

  Your tito/tita is the best companion on moments when you want someone to ask you “anong gusto mong kainin?” They’ll give it away even if they know that you’re not allowed to eat junk food or sweets. And yes, they are willing to pay that venti-sized coffee from Starbucks. They love you just like that.

  Same thing when you go on shopping, right? When you look at something you love and you know you can’t afford it, they are so sensitive that they will ask you, “bagay ‘yan sa’yo, ano bang size mo?” or “maganda ‘yan, anong gusto mong kulay?” And without a doubt, they’ll pay for it even if you’re already working. ;)

  Moments when they are heaven-sent! Believe it or not, it’s their happiness.

  2. BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT HARD TO MAKE AGREEMENTS WITH.

  Let’s admit it, you’d choose your tito/tita over anyone to drive you somewhere because you won’t have problems on what time to go home. And sometimes, they are willing to wait for you at a nearby coffee shop. Time is no issue as long as they can get coffee and Wi-Fi connection! Just tell them what time do you need them and they’ll be there to bring you home. No discussions but with “oh, kamusta ang party?”

  3. BECAUSE YOU CAN HAVE MATURE CONVOS WITH THEM WITHOUT AWKWARDNESS.

  Your friends might be the best people, you think, who can understand you on adulthood struggles. But sometimes, hearing you out is not enough. You still want someone who will assure you that what you’re going through is just a phase and it’s gonna pass.

  Adulting makes us crazy but seeing your tito/tita, who went through the same stage, are the living testimony that everything’s going to be alright. So just chill. You’ll hear them say, “easyhan mo lang…”

  4. BECAUSE THEY CAN BE YOUR FINANCIAL ADVISER.

  One of the many questions every adult faces is “HOW TO PROPERLY HANDLE MY FINANCES?”

  And everything seems legit when your millennial tito/tita says it. You won’t feel insecure when it comes on how much is your salary. But they’ll tell you that you need to invest or get a savings account. You won’t feel pressured to have big savings right away. They know the grind. But they won’t get tired of making kulit that you get an insurance or save.

  They just don’t want you to regret not saving while you’re still young.

  5. BECAUSE YOUR JAM IS THEIR JAM.

  It might be weird to hear them playing EDM on Spotify or singing along with Tadhana when it plays on Easy Rock on #RSTMonday. But what’s the fuss? At least, you’re not putting earphones while you’re in the car with them!

  6. BECAUSE THEY ARE YOUR INSTANT LOVE GURUS.

  The “papunta ka pa lang, pabalik na ‘ko” might be cliché but they are so true! But the good thing about your millennial tito/tita is that love convos are not awkward. They’ll get kilig with you. They’ll tell you what to do, what should you feel, and lines like “oh, bata ka pa wag ka munang magboyfriend” are not included in the convo.

  They’d rather say, “enjoy mo lang, masarap ma-in love!” And they are so right with that. And that’s what you really need.

  7. BECAUSE GREEN JOKES ARE TOTALLY FINE.

  As much as mom and dad are concern, green jokes should be out of your life. But with your young-at-heart tito/tita, those are totally no harm! Most of the time, the greenest jokes you know came from them! Hahahahahahaha!

  8. BECAUSE THEY TAG YOU / YOU TAG THEM ON RANDOM POSTS ON FACEBOOK.

  If there’ll be someone old in your family that you can tag on hugot, pak ganern, and meme posts on Facebook, that will be them! And it’s more fun when they do the same!

  It’s actually cute to see your tito/tita posting “pak ganern” jokes! Hahahahaha!
