Recently, an elopement wedding made rounds in the internet. Two couples decided to go for an elopement wedding in Georgia.  Sure it sounds new but what really is it and is it for everyone?

Elope is to run away secretly in order to get married, especially without parental consent.

Elopement wedding might not be for everyone especially in an Asian country where families are conservative and family-oriented.

Filipinos consider family as the foundation of social life. The Catholic Church shapes most expectations and practices  in a Filipino household especially marriages.

Traditional weddings take place in churches and is often attended by immediate families and even relatives and friends of the couple. It is usually a large celebration with everything in between.

    Pre-wedding Preparations

Compared to a traditional wedding which is quite expensive and stressful to pull off, an elopement wedding saves a lot of money and time since there are no other guests to just minimal guests and no grand reception.

If you are planning to do an elopement wedding, make sure that you have a knowledge about the place you plan on getting married in.

Know what documents to prepare, what ID to bring, or any documents to accomplish before exchanging vows.

    The Venue

The beauty of an elopement wedding is you can have the ceremony anywhere depending on your taste and budget. You can have it abroad, at the beach, or just in a garden. It doesn’t really matter where as long as it’s what you wanted.

    The Attire

Even though you are planning to have an elopement wedding, you still have to prepare your attire for the wedding. If you want to still be in the traditional wedding attires it’s fine, if you want to wear something else, it’s good as well. Whatever you want is fine.

    Document that special moment

Even though it is a very intimate moment, don’t forget to document your special moment, too. Hire a photographer so you can capture the special moment in your lives. Aside from that, you have something to show your relatives and friends when you get back. Photographs are a great way to immortalize a special moment in your life.

    Plan your reveal

After your elopement wedding make sure that you have a reveal. Plan how you will break the news to your family and friends.

It would be a brave move to ditch the traditional wedding. You don’t need to go through the usual wedding set up where you book a church, invite hundreds of people, meet with a lot of wedding suppliers and a whole lot more of the traditional wedding preparations.

Elopement wedding might not be for everyone but always remember that no matter which way you want to tie the knot is fine as long as you are happy go ahead.
