  To you who is falling for the nice guy

  I can’t blame you. You have all the reasons to fall in love to him. You fell when he opened the door for you. You fell when he offered his seat. You fell when you see him playing with little kids. You fell when he thought of you first at the corniest joke he heard.

  And all these simple things complicated everything.

  I can’t blame you for loving someone who never knew that he is the reason why you can’t sleep at night. I can’t blame you for loving someone who never knew you cried over “Picture of You” by Boyzone just because it reminds you of him.

  He captured your heart in ways you never thought he will. And broke it without him knowing it.

  And I get it when you said, “ayoko na pero gusto ko pa.” You know that it’s not getting anywhere but you keep your hopes high that maybe, just maybe, these efforts and feelings will pay off. That maybe someday he’ll see you more than just a regular nice girl.

  You fell in love with his smiles, the way he laughed, the way he treats you, and they way he talks about his mom. No surprise because everyone loved him for these things. But the magic he did to your heart was different. You learned to smile because he did. You laughed because of his laughs. And you talk about him as if he’s the only one that matters. He became every air you breathe and your every heartbeat. And that’s okay. Have you seen how your heart has grown since he came? Have you seen how lovely you have become? Have you seen how selfless you got?

  But just in case one day you decided to let go of this love…

  Just in case it’s finally you who says it’s not getting anywhere…

  Just in case you’ll give up on love that you’ve always dreamed of…

  Always think that loving a nice guy was not a mistake. Loving a nice guy was not a stupidity that all of them was telling you. Loving a nice guy was not something you have to regret.

  Because loving a nice guy made you love yourself. You get to know that you deserve a nice guy. You deserve someone who will treat you with respect. You deserve someone who loves her mom the most because you know that he’ll love you the same. You deserve someone who makes you smile and laugh.

  We always think that a nice guy is always a dream and never a reality.

  But one day, when things fall at the right place your own nice guy will be there in front of you and you’ll realize he’s the reason why the other nice guy didn’t work out. And you are now sure that this time it’s all worth it.
