5 Reasons Why You Have To Stop Traveling For True Love

There are two kinds of travelers:
1. Traveling for the experience.
2. Traveling for true love.
Stop denying it. You were the latter. You went out of your box, traveled, and tried if the universe has set your true love in other places. Come on! The movies did it and they were effective. Remember, That Thing Called Tadhana? Yep, it increased the traffic in Baguio because people were trying to find their selves, and hoping that a stranger would let them share their luggage with them. Oh, yes, who would forget Kita-Kita? Hoping that maybe love is in the other time zone. And recently, everyone wants to try Siargao and Palawan with hopes that someone, from a different story, would give the answers to questions left hanging in your own story. These movies happening in your life, what a concept! Imagine, nagtravel ka na, nagkalove life ka pa!
But it’s only in the movies. In movies, the universe is controlled. As what someone once said, “what works for others may not work for you.”
So, maybe, we should stop traveling for true love because…
1. You’re missing so much beauty. When your mind and your heart is focused on searching for a thing, you’re missing a lot. You’re letting experiences pass. You’re missing out good times. And maybe you’re also letting people pass through. Stop waiting and searching, let it go when you travel. Let your feet enjoy every ground it touches and bring home memories. Don’t let your eyes miss the beautiful things. Moreover, don’t let your heart fail to catch whatever these beautiful things teach you.
2. You fail to enjoy. When you’re trying the universe’s plan for you as you travel, you’re forgetting to enjoy because you’re waiting for some magic. You’re waiting for a stranger to come near you and invite you for a drink. You’re waiting for someone to pick your bandana. You’re waiting for someone to smile at you and invite you for dinner. It’s not always like that. There’s a chance that it will happen. But if that’s meant to happen, it will happen. Enjoy with or without knowing new love. Enjoy eating alone if you’re traveling solo. Enjoy the beach and the waves when it hits your toes. Enjoy the extreme sports if there are. Enjoy the people you get to have small conversations with. Enjoy the company you’re travelling with. Forget about new love for the mean time. Because if it’s meant to be it will be.
3. There’s so much more than romantic love when you travel. Love is all over the world. Love is available in all places. Even in the saddest place on earth, love is there. When you travel, you’ll get different kinds of love. It might not be the kind of love you’ll have on a delayed flight. Not the love that you’ll share room with. Not the love you’ll surf with. Not the love who’ll invite you for a dinner. Not the love who’ll teach you how to ride a motorcycle. But maybe, you’ll have the love through a smile as you step out of a boat and say, “Welcome! Hope you’ll enjoy your stay here.” Or maybe the love through free-taste of delicacies. Maybe it’s the love through bringing your heavy luggage with the words, “Anything else, ma’am/sir?” Or maybe the love that makes you feel safe and equipped as you check off zip line in your bucket-list. Maybe it’s not the love that you expect but the love that you deserve. Maybe the next time you’ll travel, you have to stop looking for the love that you want and welcome every love you just deserve.
4. It comes when you least expect it. True love will come to you. Maybe when you’re ready or maybe when you’re not. No one knows. True love might come when you are on the beach, enjoying the sand and the waves. Or while you’re looking for right exit at the airport. Or maybe when you’re lost in the streets of Seoul. Or maybe, love will come when you’re just at home scrolling up and down in your Facebook feed. You don’t know when. But one thing is for sure, it will come to you. May you be traveling or not, it will come to you.
5. Traveling is good for the soul. Let the places you go to open your inner self to more beauty, pain, joy, grief, compassion, passion. Let the people you see and shake hands with tell you stories you haven’t heard or thought of and let these stories inspire you. Expose your taste buds to different flavors and savor the history and culture of the places you visit. Bring home memories, many memories. Not everyone is privileged to make one. So, seize the places you set foot on because life is short to just satisfy your heart. Satisfy your soul.
