Unless you own a car, commuting will never be your problem. But for most Filipinos who depend on Manila’s very own public transportation, it is wonderful to know that finally, elongating the Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1) to Cavite is finally happening!
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) said the project is set to begin in April.
According to gocavite.com LRT-1 will extend over 33 kilometers from Roosevelt in Quezon City to Niog, Bacoor in Cavite City.
“Mock up LRV (light rail vehicle) has arrived in the Philippines and it will be unveiled in April, parallel to the start of construction of the LRT Cavite Extension,” the DOTr said.
Light Rail Manila Corp. (LRMC) president and chief executive officer Juan Alfonso indicated plans to move the start of construction of the project to the second quarter.
Imagine the ease in the daily commute this LRT-1 extension can bring to the Filipino commuters? The fare might be a lot cheaper compared to the daily UV Express rides, this will cater more commuters compared to the usual bus and shuttle service rides, and of course this will save a lot of time from their homes going to their workplaces.
No further details were discussed yet but this is something to look forward especially to the Filipino commuters.
