grentperez launches new EP ‘When We Were Younger’

• The emerging talent from Australia with Filipino roots, grentperez, recently unveiled his latest EP titled ‘When We Were Younger,’ featuring the standout track “Stuck On You.” Seeking to break free from a creative block, ‘When We Were Younger’ comprises seven songs that revolve around the theme of nostalgia. Inspired by the desire to preserve innocence and embrace the uninhibited creativity of childhood, grentperez describes the EP as “a musical compilation that reflects various aspects of the past, whether it’s love, loss, family, or friendship.” 

  In the focal track “Stuck On You,” grentperez’s versatility shines through, delivering a melodic and rhythmic tune. The song narrates a tale of memories that linger persistently. Reflecting on his own experiences, grentperez explains, “I wrote this song when I found myself away from my friends at home for the first time in over a month. It felt like I left just as everything was falling into place, so this track serves as a recollection of cherished memories and an invitation to create new ones. I wanted to convey the idea of making up for lost time during my absence.” 

  Guiding listeners through a series of unexpected yet instinctive sonic detours, grentperez skillfully combines elements from a diverse range of nostalgic sounds throughout the EP. His beloved bossa nova draws inspiration from the soundtracks and overall atmosphere of romantic comedies from the ‘90s. 

  grentperez born in Australia, embarked on his musical journey as a Filipino artist, initially gaining recognition through his YouTube channel in 2013. With over half a million subscribers, he is widely recognized for his million-streamed bossa nova hits such as “Cherry Wine,” “(Only) About Love,” and “Absence of Few,” along with his noteworthy covers, among others.
